Phew! Its been so l this long since i updated blog.. I am so busy working on several blogs like Scribble Novelist, this blog and my newest blog, The ShadowHunter World. For those of you that have read The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices or even Cassandra Clare's books, you are more than welcome to visit the blog and lets fangirl (or fanboys) together over the series!
How did i got to know about this amazing new world?
Well, I have to admit, TMI's City Of Bones movie didnt struck me hard at first because i thought it is going to be another Twilight or another one of those Percy Jackson book (Though i enjoy reading both series,mind you), so i saw the trailer a couple of times on the television, still unattached to it.
Until one day, i was flipping through channels and i stop at one channel where TMI was on. I didnt know what is the movie at time but i was drawn into this story. Being a junkie of mystical adventures movies, i was hooked. It was a channel that my dad bought so it will be showing that movies a couple times a day for the whole 48 hours, so i keep on watching it several times, trying to understand and absorb myself into their world.
After that, i started to google about them online. After much Google-ing, I found out that the City Of Bones have its continuation story for 4 more book, COA, COG,COLS AND CFA, just like Harry Potter did. I am getting excited now. Even more when i went to a Shopping Mall near my home and they sell all the books!
Gah!
Although short of budget that time, i managed to buy one book at that time, City of Ashes, a sequel to the movie i just watched in the same series, City Of Bones. The plot was so exciting tht i managed to finish it for 2 days. Yup,, 2 days.
So, while waiting for the next time to go there, i had google more about this series. Turns out there's an Ebook version that i can download and save inside my Samsung Tablet. So i download all the series.
There's 5 ebooks including The City Of bones that i have downloaded at that time. I finished reading 1 book for 2-3 days, depending on how busy i am that certain day.
While people busy dating, going out after work, i cant wait to get home and resume my reading.
One Day while waiting for my dad to pick me up, I was OTP with my bestie, Ira Marlia. She was a huge TMI, Twilight fan before me. She saw my posts on FB and Wechat and know about my TMI fever
We chatted about how awesome the series was and how different a book published in Malaysia and the one originally published in UK. Then she blurted out to me that she bough another TMI books the other day and she accidently bought the same 2 book of City Of Lost Souls. She offered to sell the book to me for a price that i thought was reasonable than the bookshop's price. So I agreed.
I met her the next day and pay for the book. since that we fangirl about TMI and Cassies's series. So I told her that i was already on the last pages of the third book, City Of Glass. She was shocked and said she didnt even finished City Of Ashes yet.She said she trying to gather the mood to read so that she really get into the story.
After finish reading the series, there's a rumor going on that the last book, City Of Heavenly Fire is coming out in 2014. I was so damn excited! So i told her about that. She didn't believe me at first coz she though City Of Lost Souls was the last one. I even sent her the link where Cassandra Clare posted about the cover of the last book. Then she started to reallly believe.
So after I finished TMI and waiting for the last book, I google-ed again and found out about The Infernal Devices series, Prequel to TMI. So i thought what the heck? While waiting for the last book, might as well enjoy the rest of this shadowhunter series.
So to sum The Infernal Devices, In TMI, we have Clary, Jace and Simon. In TID,we have Will, Tessa and Jem. The same starting where Jace saved Clary from the monster at her house, Will save Tessa from two evil warlocks called The Dark Sisters. The differences are, Jem is Will's Parabatai, while Simon was a mundane and Clary;s best friend. Tessa, the female lead, was a part warlock and part shadowhunter (Clockwork Prince) while Clary was a full pureblooded Shadowhunter.
More surprises i encounter were
- Will is actually Jace's great-great-great grandfather.
- Charlotte Branwell, the head of the London Institute where Will and Jem resides, is actually A Fairchild. When she married her husband, Henry Branwell that she changed her last name.
- The Lightwood family are not so good in term with Will and the London Institute.
- Alec and Isabelle's ancsestors, Gideon and Gabriel Lightwood was Will's enemy because when Will on was a young boy, he read their sister's diary, Tatiana Lightwood in front of the Clave.
- Will's sisters, Cecily was married to Gabriel Lightwood,. This is where Jace, Alec and Isabelle shared their ancestors.
- Magnus was Camille Belcourt's lovers in Clockwork Angel.
- Magnus liking to blue eyes was seen here where he was fascinated with Will's blue eyes, which his sister, Cecily have and now in TMI, Alec have the blue eyes heritage..
- I encounter many names like Penhallow, Lightwood, Starkweather, Blackthorn(connected to Julian Blackthorn, Emma's Carstairs parabatai in The Dark Artifices) and even Morgenstern and Fairchild.
- In TMI,Valentine extracted the angel's blood from Ithuriel nd gave it to his wife who was at that time didnt know that she was pregnant with Clary. In TID, Tessa Changed (her mark/abilities to shapeshift as a warlock) into the angel, Ithuriel who was trapped in a clockwork angel necklace dangling on Tessa's neck and saved Will,Magnus, Henry, Charlotter, Sophie,Cyril,Bridget,Gabriel and Gideon.
- Brother Zachariah,whom Maryse called when she discover about the message sent by Sebastian "Erochmai",is actually William Herondale's former parabatai. He was dying when he was taken by the Silent Brothers to the Silent City when he asked to be turned into a Silent Brother.
- Henry Branwell, Clary's great-great-great grandfather invented the Portal with the some magic help from Magnus. In TMI, Clary have the ability to draw a portal by her own steele.
- Henry's middle name is Jocelyn, the same name that Clary's mother name.
And a bunch more that if i type them all, it will take me tomorrow to finish. Dont get me started on the Dark Artifices..fuh
So after all, since that day and until now, i am still in love with this world. I even learnt to perfected my drawing on ancient runes and event reading the Shadowhunter's codex. So.. that's all for now.
